INTRO:
We as a church are TRINITARIAN...we believe that
the Bible teaches that we are to worship ONE GOD in THREE PERSONS. #1 - Problems with the TRINITY... a. The word, "trinity," is never used in the Bible... b. The idea of "trinity" is counter-intuitive and difficult to grasp. #2 - Biblical evidence for the TRINITY... Genesis 1:26,27; Mt. 3:16,17; Mt. 28:16-20; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 9:14: Jude 20 & 21 #3 - Significance of the TRINITY...Each person is God, yet we worship only ONE GOD. #4 - Dangers of the TRINITY... Modalism/Tri-theism/diminishing Jesus or the Holy Spirit #5 - 1 John 4:8-14 TRINITY helps us understand the statement, "GOD IS LOVE." 4:7 & 8 - Focus on the Father 4:9-11 Focus on the Son 4:12-14 Focus on the HS The TRINITY is the eternal relationship of love existing between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit into which we who have trusted in Christ are invited to enter for the rest of eternity! |
