| The final authority in Milan Bible Church is vested in the Council of Elders consisting of qualified congregational leaders and the pastor. The Elders are responsible for all ministry decisions and directions and meet monthly to handle the spiritual affairs and business of the church.
Milan Bible Church currently has an Council consisting of
3 elders and pastor who meet the qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Because they are "permanent" in Milan, these men are able to continue in their positions for an indefinite period of time. They know the church well and are able and willing to provide long-term leadership for the fellowship.
However, from time to time, men who are fully qualified as elders attend Milan Bible Church for a more limited period of time, usually anywhere from 3 months to 3 years. Such individuals simply do not have the time to build the relationships and put down the roots that would normally be expected of those who would serve on the church's Board of Elders. Because it is clearly to the church's great benefit for such individuals to serve in leadership, Milan Bible Church has created the position of "Visiting Elder" for individuals who are clearly qualified as elders, are in full agreement with MBC's doctrinal stance, and are available to minister during their limited time in Milan. The potential candidate for the position of "visiting elder" is asked to provide a letter of recommendation from the pastor of his "home church" attesting to his character and to his record of service within that fellowship of believers.
The "visiting elder" is encouraged to attend and participate in all the meetings of MBC's Elder Board. However, in any decisions that come before the Council, he remains a non-voting member of the Board.
Our current elders include:
Elmor A.
Silas O.
Fred M.
Pastor Jim K.
